Founder and CEO
Tishanna Dixon is a Civil Engineer and Educator for over 25 years. She has taught in 5 different countries (Jamaica, UK, Russia, Italy and USA). She was also a Project Manager of International Educational Projects for over 21 years. Ms. Dixon fully enjoys fostering the psychological developmental growth of young minds helping them to be independent thinkers with the tenacity and grit needed to achieve.
Ms. Dixon is passionate about bringing engineering to the young minds of our children, allowing them to access various careers specific to the engineering field through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Through extensive research, Ms. Dixon learned that students are not exposed enough to the many fields in engineering and therefore do not have a full understanding of the careers available. She also learned that most engineering students drop out of the course after the first year. Ms. Dixon’s mission is to give students access to a variety of engineering careers that will expand their creative minds and improve their critical thinking. This will help students make better decisions as to what STEAM career they want to pursue.
The study of different cultures is also important to Ms. Dixon as she embeds this into the minds of students through engineering projects with countries around the world. Ms. Dixon earned a Masters degree in Project Management and Chartered Surveying at the University of Greenwich and a second Masters degree in Teaching and Learning at the University of East London.
She is the founder and CEO of STEAMUP Academy. She offers educational service in three different categories; Robotics and Engineering afterschool programs and Summer Camps, Private Tutoring in math, science and english and Homeschool engineering.
